Maintaining Intimacy in Committed Relationships

If intimacy is not seriously damaged by infidelity, emotional or physical illness, substance abuse, violence and other major issues, then you and your partner can increase the level of intimacy by:

  • spending more time together doing enjoyable activities
  • learning about each other's unique formula for feeling loved
  • keeping agreements and promises
  • working towards common goals
  • improving and strengthening good communication
Persistence and effort in keeping your relationship healthy can pay big dividends.

Even where there are major hurts and conflicts, the above suggestions when implemented can still help. Don't be afraid to get help if there are major issues or intimacy doesn't seem to be improving.
